A new class action lawsuit claims Celtic Ocean International LLC\u2019s Celtic Sea Salt products are contaminated with lead and arsenic. Plaintiff Mark Gonzalez\u2019s class action complaint alleges that Celtic Sea Salt products<\/strong><\/a>, including Fine Ground Celtic Sea Salt and Light Grey Celtic Sea Salt, contain \u201csignificant levels\u201d of lead and arsenic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonzalez claims Celtic Ocean misleads consumers into believing the Celtic Sea Salt products are healthy by using labels that contain statements such as \u201cvital minerals,\u201d \u201cgood manufacturing practice\u201d and \u201cdoctor recommended.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo reasonable consumer would buy the products if they knew the products contained toxic and harmful ingredients such as lead and arsenic,\u201d the Celtic Sea Salt class action lawsuit says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonzalez wants to represent a nationwide class and California subclass of consumers who purchased Celtic Sea Salt products for personal use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celtic Sea Salt products contain lead, arsenic levels above California\u2019s Proposition 65 limits, class action alleges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gonzalez alleges that testing of Celtic Sea Salt products showed they contained 460 parts per billion of lead and 140 parts per billion of arsenic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The levels of lead in the Celtic Sea Salt products exceed California\u2019s Proposition 65 limits, which require a warning label for products that contain more than 0.5 micrograms of lead per maximum daily usage, the Celtic Sea Salt class action claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonzalez argues Celtic Ocean had a duty to inform consumers that consuming the Celtic Sea Salt products exposes them to unsafe levels of lead and arsenic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInstead of informing consumers about the unlawful lead contamination, it placed the High Quality and Healthy Representations on the labels of the products to affirmatively mislead its customers,\u201d the Celtic Sea Salt class action lawsuit says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonzalez claims Celtic Ocean is guilty of breach of implied warranty, and is in violation of California\u2019s Unfair Competition Law and Consumers Legal Remedies Act<\/strong><\/a>. He is seeking compensatory, statutory and punitive damages for himself and all class members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other news concerning heavy metal contamination, Tampax, a Procter & Gamble Company, is facing a class action<\/strong><\/a> alleging its tampons are contaminated with unsafe levels of lead. Another lawsuit<\/strong><\/a> alleges that Tom\u2019s of Maine\u2019s Kid\u2019s Natural Fluoride-Free Toothpaste Silly Strawberry contains unsafe levels of lead and arsenic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
