Medical professionals have stepped up calls for President Biden to take a mental competency test after Thursday\u2019s blistering report from special counsel Robert Hur<\/a> revealed the 81-year-old can\u2019t remember basic facts about his own life and career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hur report, released Thursday, assessed Biden as too senile to be prosecuted over his wrongful retention of classified documents and noted the commander-in-chief \u201cdid not remember when he was vice president\u201d and \u201cdid not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died\u201d over two days of interviews in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomething isn\u2019t right, and even if it\u2019s minor, it must be explained to the public,\u201d Dr. Stuart Fischer, a primary care physician at a nursing home in the Bronx, told The Post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe horse is out of the barn. Not only does [Biden] have an infirmity of some degree, but he has delayed producing objective evidence,\u201d the internal medicine expert added, arguing that \u201cno one is buying\u201d the president\u2019s defenses about his memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being the oldest president in US history, Biden has refused to take mental acuity tests despite repeated calls to do so from his critics \u2014 as well as consistent polling showing a majority of Americans<\/a> share those concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of Biden\u2019s most recent physical exam<\/a>, released by the White House in February of last year, described the chief executive as \u201cfit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency,\u201d but made no mention of a cognitive test or an assessment of his mental fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed to reporters that she had talked to White House physician Kevin O\u2019Connor around that time and he had told her that \u201cbecause of the president\u2019s actions every day, what he deals with \u2014 with world leaders, the domestic issues that he has to deal with \u2014 that shows that the president is very much active and understands what\u2019s going on and [O\u2019Connor] didn\u2019t believe a test like that was warranted because of, just who he is as president of the United States and everything he has to deal with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut again, I\u2019m not a medical doctor,\u201d the press secretary added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, according to Fischer, Biden has \u201csigns of symptoms\u201d that could indicate he suffers from \u201cinfectious disease or fatigue,\u201d though the physician stressed that he is not Biden\u2019s doctor and his statements did not constitute a diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how this man can have anything more than a mild schedule,\u201d added the doc, \u201cbecause the more he pushes himself, the more difficult it is for an 81-year-old body to respond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a physician to both former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump and a member of the White House Medical Unit under President George W. Bush, told The Post that if Biden clinches the Democratic presidential nomination, he should \u201c100%\u201d have to submit to a mental competency test before the general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t need a [cognitive] screening test,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cHe needs an actual cognitive battery of tests, objectively done, put on paper, and briefed to the American people by his physician.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not making a diagnosis. And I\u2019m not saying the guy has Alzheimer\u2019s or multi-infarct dementia or Parkinson\u2019s or anything else,\u201d he clarified. \u201cThis guy has cognitive issues related to his age: He shuffles when he walks, he slurs his speech, he forgets where he\u2019s at, what he\u2019s doing, he can\u2019t remember names, he can\u2019t remember dates \u2014 that is not someone that should be in control of the nuclear codes in this country and controlling our fate overseas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been saying since he was candidate Joe Biden: This man does not have the cognitive wherewithal or ability to be our head of state,\u201d added Jackson, who went on to describe the president\u2019s recent confusion of European leaders<\/a> with their dead predecessors as \u201csuper concerning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hur\u2019s report has also put Democrats in the unenviable spot of having to defend Biden\u2019s ability to hold office based on the decision not to charge him while ignoring the reason for that, according to Jackson, namely that \u201che is too mentally and cognitively incompetent to stand trial.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
