Multiple active shooters reported near Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland

Security officials reportedly returned fire on multiple shooters.

Update: 12:49 p.m. Saturday, August 17: An investigation continues after multiple shooters targeted Air Force Security Forces working the entrance gate to the JBSA-Chapman Training Annex, located at RayEllison Boulevard and Medina Base Road, according to preliminary information from the San Antonio Police Department.

Security forces said they heard several shots fired, as well as the fired rounds that went past them. Following the incident, security forces added more armed guards as a precaution, SAPD reported.

Just before 5 a.m. Saturday, August 17, a Sedan stopped on Median Base Road, east of the same entrance gate to the Chapman Training Annex, and shots were fired at the Air Force Security Forces a second time. Additional security was present at the time of the second shooting and returned fire toward the vehicle, according to SAPD.
